Week of November 1-5th
Math: Partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths.
This week the kids will use skittle bags to create whole fractions. They will focus on the vocabulary numerator and denominator.
Reading: Know and use various text features(captions, bold print, subheadings, glossaries, indexes, electronic menus, icons) to locate key facts or information in a text. This week students will be exploring with nonfiction text to locate and understand the purpose of each text feature.
Writing: I can write a narrative that includes main ideas, characters, details, and sequence of events. This week the kids will be writing about their Halloween experiences.
Science: Students will be investigating the states of matter (solids, liquids, gases). This week they will compare water, air, and a block to determine it's properties.
